Ponatinib is this oral kinase inhibitor thing. It’s used for treating CML and Ph ALL. It’s mainly for folks who’ve tried other TKIs and they didn’t work or they couldn’t handle them.
The drug comes in tablet form, with doses of 15 mg and 45 mg. You’re supposed to take 45 mg of ponatinib once a day, and it doesn’t matter if you eat or not. Each bottle has 30 tablets.
Ponatinib works by blocking a bunch of different kinases, which helps it fight cancer cells that have become resistant. This drug’s effectiveness relies on the BCR-ABL kinase thing, which is this genetic glitch that’s common in CML and Ph ALL.
