Mavacamten is an inhibitor used in the treatment of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is designed to reduce cardiac contractility. The capsules come in different strengths—2.5, 5, 10, and 15 milligrams. The usual dose is 5 mg taken every day, though it might be changed by your doctor.
You need to swallow the capsules whole; don’t break, chew, or crush them. Each bottle holds 30 capsules of the medicine. It works by keeping something called cardiac myosin from doing its job, which relaxes the heart muscles a bit.
You take these pills by mouth, not through any other method.
