Trametinib is a MEK inhibitor. It’s used for melanoma with BRAF V600E/K mutations and NSCLC. It works by stopping the MEK signaling process.
There are two forms of the drug: either a 0.5 mg or a 2 mg pill, both with a coating. The recommended dose for adult patients is 2 mg taken orally once daily, with the instruction to take it on an empty stomach. Each bottle comes with 30 pills.
Trametinib is pretty well-tolerated. The usual side effects are stuff like skin rashes, diarrhea, and feeling queasy. How long you take it and the check-ups? That’s up to your doc based on how your body handles it and your reaction.
