So, Ponatinib is this kinase inhibitor thing, and it’s used for treating this chronic myeloid leukemia or CML, and this other type of leukemia called Ph ALL. It’s for folks who’ve already tried other kinase inhibitors and those haven’t worked for them. Now, it can do two things, mostly stopping these things called kinases – big fancy words – like the BCR-ABL kinase.
You get Ponatinib in these tablets that have a special coating – like those little things you might take daily, comes in like two sizes: 15 mg and then a stronger one which is 45 mg. Now, they recommend going for the stronger stuff – 45 mg every day. No worries about eating right before; it can go with your grub if you fancy or skip it all together.
And you’ll find these little fellas in a bottle, with thirty tabs to a jar.
