Eltrombopag is used to treat low platelet counts in ITP and Chronic Hepatitis C. It’s for giving your platelet count a boost. They come in 25, 50, or 75 mg tablets.
You usually take 50 mg a day. You take Eltrombopag just once a day, preferably on an empty stomach. The tablets are coated so they’re easy to swallow.
It comes in bottles with 30 pills in each. For ITP, you usually start with 50 mg a day for two weeks, then keep going with a dose that works for you. For hepatitis C, you take 50 mg a day for 12 weeks.
You can take the tablet with or without food. You might get a headache, achy joints or muscles, or be more prone to infections.
