Crizotinib is used to treat advanced non-small cell lung cancer with certain gene changes, like ALK fusion, ROS1 rearrangement, or c-MET mutation. It’s known as an ALK/ROS1/MET inhibitor. The drug comes in capsules with 200 mg or 250 mg of the main stuff.
You usually take 250 mg two times a day, whether you eat or not. Crizotinib comes in bottles with 60 capsules in each. You’ve got to take it with a strong CYP3A inhibitor at 200 mg twice a day too, so it’s as effective as if you took it with food.
We do it because if we don’t, the dose might get too high and cause issues like lowered blood counts and other stuff. In the real world, doctors might change the dose based on how well it works and how much you can handle it, and also based on how your kidneys and liver are doing. This isn’t for kids.
The drug works by keeping the ALK, ROS1, and MET enzymes from doing their thing, so it stops cells from multiplying too much.
