Ivosidenib is used to help treat AML that comes back or doesn’t respond to treatment and has IDH1 mutations. It works by focusing on the changed IDH1 enzyme to slow down cancer cell growth. It’s available as tablets covered with a film, each one weighs about a quarter of an ounce, and you take 500 mg every day.
The tablets are available in bottles of 60 tablets, and oral administration is advised to be with or after meals to minimize side effects. This is a generic drug for AML that stops the IDH1 enzyme from making too much alanine. You’ll need to get regular blood tests while on this med since it can affect your blood counts.
