Erlotinib is a cancer fighter that blocks something called the EGFR. It’s really important for cancer cells in your lungs and pancreas, especially when they’ve got these EGFR things going on. It’s one of those tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
It works by stopping a process called EGFR signaling. The drug comes in pill form with a few different strengths—25, 100, or 150 milligrams. They usually say to take 150 milligrams a day, best on an empty stomach so it can work right.
Doctors usually tell you to stick with this dose, and it usually comes in bottles with 30 pills each.
