Fidaxomicin is used to help with treating a really stubborn infection called Clostridioides difficile. It stops the germs from making their DNA by doing something to their RNA. For those who are 12 and up, you should take 200 mg twice every day, and keep doing it for 10 full days.
You can get it in these little 200 mg tablets. Don’t break or chew the pill—just swallow it whole. It usually comes in bottles with 20 tablets each.
You might get a headache, have diarrhea, feel queasy, throw up, or get belly pain. Make sure you finish all ten days of it, even if you start feeling better sooner. Don’t change the dose because of how much you weigh or how your kidneys are doing.
This stuff isn’t for kids under 12.
