Futibatinib is a tiny pill that helps treat a type of liver cancer caused by FGFR2 gene fusions. It works by stopping something called FGFR signaling, which is a key part of how cancer grows and spreads. The pills are 4 mg each.
You’re supposed to take 20 mg a day, which means two pills. They come in bottles with 28 pills each, so one bottle lasts a month. Given the tablet strength and the recommended dose, each bottle would need to be taken for a two-week period to reach the prescribed monthly total.
It might be pricey because you need a lot of these pills, for a while, and how much it costs depends on your insurance and who you go to for care. You’ve got to keep an eye out for any side effects, because this stuff can mess with you.
