Palbociclib is used for treating hormone-positive and HER2-negative breast cancer that’s spread or moved to other parts of the body. It’s a kinase 4/6 inhibitor that stops the cells from dividing and growing. There are three dosages—75, 100, and 125 mg—all taken as capsules.
You’re supposed to take 125 mg of the pill every day for 21 days. It’s part of a four-week cycle. Each bottle comes with 21 capsules.
Palbociclib messes with the CDK4/6 pathway, which is a big deal for cancer cell cycles. It sticks to CDK4 and CDK6, making them less active, which keeps cancer cells from growing. It’s really important to stick to taking it for 21 days, then take a break for 7, so you don’t get resistant to it.
