Asciminib is a special kind of medicine made to help people with CML who have already tried other treatments, especially those that target the BCR-ABL kinase. The medicine focuses on a part of the ABL protein, called the myristoyl pocket, to stop the wrong signals that lead to CML. It comes in tablets that are coated.
You can take it in 20 mg or 40 mg doses. Your doctor might tell you to take either 80 mg once a day or 40 mg twice a day. The tablets come in bottles with 60 pills each.
The goal of this treatment is to slow the disease down, make you feel better, and help you live longer without the disease getting worse.
