So, Eltrombopag is this thing called a thrombopoietin (or TPO) receptor agonist. It’s used to boost platelet numbers in people with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and chronic hepatitis C, by the way. That’s to help out with low platelet counts, which is what thrombocytopenia is.
The tablets actually come in three different doses.: They’re 25 mg, 50 mg, and 75 mg pills. The usual go-to is 50 mg, taken just once a day. And best taken on an empty stomach, if you can swing it.
Each bottle comes with 30 of these film-coated tablets. That’s enough for about a month’s supply at the right amount. The goal here is to keep those platelet numbers up and safe, and prevent any bleeding problems.
