Sotripentol is an anticonvulsant. It’s used for treating Dravet syndrome, along with other treatments. The way it works is by boosting GABAergic transmission.
This is just a fancy way of saying it uses the neurotransmitter GABA to calm down neuron activity. The drug’s available in two strengths: 250 mg and 500 mg. You take it in smaller doses spread out through the day.
The doc usually suggests taking 50 mg for every kilo you weigh, once a day. The bottles come with 60 capsules. That’s enough for a 5-day supply at the max dose, which is for someone who weighs 120 kilos.
