Venetoclax is used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia. It stops the BCL-2 protein and makes cancer cells die. You can get it as a pill with strengths of 10, 50, or 100 milligrams.
You usually start with 10 milligrams a day with your meals, then your doc might increase it to 50, 100, or even up to 400 milligrams a day. Keep doing this treatment until your cancer gets worse or the side effects get too bad. How long you take the medicine can be different for everyone.
It comes in bottles with 120 pills each. Just take the pill with a big glass of water unless you have trouble swallowing. If you can’t swallow it, you can break it up and mix it with applesauce, pudding, or yogurt.
Then just gulp it down. Don’t make a slushy drink out of it. Don’t chew, break, or crush the pill because that can cause more side effects.
