Dacomitinib is a targeted therapy. It’s used to treat Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, especially when there are certain mutations in the EGFR gene. It really works well for people who have these specific changes in the EGFR gene, like the ones where part of the exon 19 is deleted or there’s an L858R mutation in exon 21.
The drug stops the EGFR pathway. That’s the thing that really makes cancer cells grow. You can get it in tablets.
They come in three strengths: 15 mg, 30 mg, and 45 mg. Doctors usually recommend you take 45 mg of it every day. You get a 30-tablet bottle for each dose.
It’s a pill you take that’s meant to help patients by focusing on the specific changes in their lung cancer.
