So, Venetoclax basically stops the BCL-2 protein, which is really good at keeping cancer cells from dying off. It’s mostly used to treat two types of blood cancer, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, also known as CLL, and Acute Myeloid Leukemia, or AML. You’ve got different strengths of this stuff: there’s the 10 mg, the 50 mg, and the 100 mg versions.
You start with a low dose and then gradually bump it up to a maximum of 400 mg, all in one shot with food, for those with CLL. It comes in bottles with 120 tablets that have a coat to make ’em easier to swallow. These tablets are for taking by mouth.
They’re coated to make them easier to swallow. It’s a big deal that you take it with food and stick to the dose schedule your doc gives you.
