Ivosidenib is made for treating AML that keeps coming back or doesn’t respond to treatment in people with a certain IDH1 gene change. It works by focusing on a twisted version of the IDH1 enzyme. This enzyme messes with how cells normally work and makes cancer cells grow faster.
You get this stuff in 250 mg pills. The doc usually tells you to take 500 mg every day, whether you eat or not, and they don’t need to be cut open. Each bottle holds 60 pills.
What makes Ivosidenib special is that it cuts back on too much of a cancer-boosting substance called alpha-KG, which helps feed cancer cells. This slows down how fast they grow.
