Palbociclib is a drug approved by the FDA. It’s used to treat a type of breast cancer that’s hormone-positive and HER2-negative, and has spread to other parts of the body. Palbociclib is part of a group of drugs called CDK4/6 inhibitors.
These drugs work by stopping cancer cells from dividing, which slows down their growth. There are three doses of Palbociclib: 75 mg, 100 mg, and 125 mg. The usual dose is 125 mg.
You take it once a day for 21 days out of every 28-day period. Each cycle is a 21-day stretch and includes 21 capsules. One bottle covers one full cycle.
You can take these caps with or without food. They’re part of the hormonal treatment for breast cancer.
