Sotripentol is an anticonvulsant. It’s often used for Dravet syndrome, usually along with other medicines. It works by boosting something called GABAergic transmission.
That’s a fancy way of saying it helps to calm your nervous system down. You can get it in two sizes—either 250 mg or 500 mg in capsules. You take it at 50 mg per kilogram of your weight every day, but split up throughout the day.
Each bottle has 60 capsules, which is pretty convenient for people taking it. The drug is meant to help manage the symptoms of Dravet syndrome, a really bad type of epilepsy that causes lots of long seizures. You can take these capsules with or without food, but it’s key to keep to a schedule so they work right.
