This stuff, Anagrelide, it’s mainly used to lower platelet counts in people with a condition called essential thrombocythemia. It works by stopping the cells that make platelets from growing up properly. You can get it as a 0.5 mg capsule.
For adults, the doc usually says to take half a pill, four times a day. But you might need more or less, based on how things go. You’ll usually find it in a bottle with 100 capsules in it.
You can take these with or without eating. And if you skip a dose, just grab one as soon as you remember unless it’s almost time for the next one. There’s a limit—no more than four pills in one day, and no more than nine in a 24-hour period, for most folks.
You could be on this for a while, and the doc will keep an eye on your blood levels and how you’re feeling all the time. Anagrelide isn’t for everyone and you gotta have a doc keeping an eye on you.
