Sofosbuvir is a drug that helps treat long-term HCV infections. It’s part of a group of drugs called NS5B polymerase inhibitors. Sofosbuvir is its own main ingredient.
Each pill has 400 mg of the main stuff. Doctors usually suggest adults take 400 mg a day, usually with other antivirals. You can get Sofosbuvir in pills with a coating, and they come in bottles with 28 pills.
Sofosbuvir stops HCV from making more of itself by hitting the NS5B enzyme, which is key for the virus to make its RNA.
