Palbociclib is a special kind of medicine that blocks two important protein things called cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6. It’s often used to help fight breast cancer that doesn’t have certain hormone and growth factor receptors. So, what it does is stop cells from dividing at a certain point in their cycle, which keeps cells from growing.
You take palbociclib, which is 125 mg, by mouth every day for three weeks straight out of a four-week period. You can get palbociclib in 75 mg, 100 mg, or 125 mg doses, and each bottle has 21 capsules. It works by blocking two key cell-growing proteins, CDK4 and CDK6, which a lot of cancers make too much of.
