Tivozanib’s main job is to block something called VEGFR, which is key to tumor growth. It’s mostly used for fighting a type of cancer in the kidneys called renal cell carcinoma. What this drug does is stop the growth of blood vessels that feed tumors, effectively slowing down their growth.
Tivozanib comes in capsules, like two different strengths – a smaller one that’s 890 millionths of a gram, and a larger one that’s a bit more than a milligram. The bigger one, though, is what most doctors would recommend. Folks usually take this bigger capsule every day for 21 straight days, then take a break for the next 7 days.
This whole routine goes on like that – 21 days with the pill, then 7 days without, making up a whole 28-day cycle. It can be taken with or without meals, and each bottle comes with 21 capsules.
